Hi all,
I started hosting the Friday Campfire call because I missed the sense of belonging and creative community I felt when I went to art school many years ago. Art school was the first time in my life that I felt a true sense of belonging. As a creative person, you spend a lot of your time justifying, defending, explaining and rationalizing WHY you are spending time doing “weird things” to your friends and family.
In art school, I found a group of people who don’t need any of that. It was a refuge from all that noise. Your creative energy doesn’t need to make sense to others — your creative collaborators don’t need to know WHY, so you can get on with it. And they will appreciate your energy and help you work through blocks and find your next step.
There’s also the wonderful energy you get from suspending your disbelief and exploring what others have creative energy for. Creative energy is infectious. And the diversity and differences you discover when you explore others’ creative energy can also be inspiring and refreshing.
My definition of creativity has expanded A LOT since my art school days. I’ve seen tons of creativity in so many areas that I didn’t expect it. Whether your creative project is art-making, or software design, or book-writing, or teaching, or you’re making products, building a business, or something else, the domain doesn’t matter so much as the energy you feel to make, to do, to generate something meaningful and beautiful.
Whatever is fueling your creative fire (and even if you’re thinking “I’m not creative”) I invite you to join us for interesting conversations with interesting people who are doing interesting things.
The School of the Possible Friday Campfire call happens in one hour, at 9am Pacific time. Click this link to join the call. You’re invited!
