Defining your leadership style
Jon Mertz.
Suddenly, you are in a new management position or promoted to greater responsibilities. How will you lead? Without forethought, we may spend more time figuring out how to lead than leading for results. Understanding the themes that will define our leadership style is paramount. Themes embrace a greater purpose than self, and style manifests how we handle challenging and rewarding times. Join me on Monday, October 30, at 11:00 a.m. MT, for a one-hour session to explore the concepts and provide feedback on this course design. Your input will guide a new course to provide a sound footing for leaders as they grow in their responsibilities and influence.

Tiny Experiments in Mission-Critical Tech Teams 🧪
Melissa Breker
Many leaders and teams struggle with alignment, especially during transition and change. Teams are often challenged with creating digital “products” to create business value, but there is a lack of cohesion and connection in how work gets done. This can be incredibly frustrating.
Simply put, it’s too hard to see the wood for the trees. 😊
Join me to explore questions about ways to experiment with your team.
You’ll leave ready to:
identify gaps
change behaviour
create a common vision to work better together and tackle change fatigue.
This session is perfect for product managers, project managers, tech team leads, and innovation leads ready to try something new and build momentum in their programs.

Does the world need more grayscale SUVs?
Tricia B. Houston.
As a former marketer, I often wondered why certain products and campaigns make it “to the wild” (that shouldn't have) while others (that the world needed) died in the board room.
My curiosity led me to get classically trained in market research, but after 10+ years in the "decision support" industry I'm realizing I might have climbed too far up the wrong tree... Rethinking research is part of the answer, but rethinking business models is at the core.
I'm developing a course to share what I've uncovered so far, tools to help us all work in different ways, and a space for us to reimagine how business decisions are made.
Join me for a free, interactive pre-course session on Oct 26 from 2:00EST - 2:45EST.
I’d like to hear from you how a course like this one can help you, your team, or your community. Where do you see this today in your world? What’s possible if uniqueness was championed versus the average?
Oct 26 from 2:00EST - 2:45EST. Spots limited to 20. Register here.
How To Create Content For Neurodivergent Audiences
Dom Goucher
Are you a content creator or a course creator? Your audience could include people who might be Autistic, have ADHD or some other Neurodivergent condition. These people will experience your content differently to a Neurotypical audience, and this will often limit the benefit they get from it.
As someone who discovered late in life that I may be Neurodivergent, I am exploring how this can affect the way people process information in different scenarios, and what we can do to assist that. I'm developing a course to help content- and course creators understand these issues, and adjust their content to make it more accessible.
Join me for a quick, interactive introduction to the material planned for the full course. You will gain an understanding of the issues faced by Neurodivergent Audiences, and take away tips for modifying your content to address some of these issues.
Topics covered in this session:
- What are Neurodiversity and Neurodivergence?
- What issues do Neurodivergent people experience when consuming content or attending courses?
- What are some simple changes we can make to our content to assist Neurodivergent Audiences?
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and I’d like to hear from you: how a course like this one could help you, your team, or your community.
This free event will take place on Zoom on Monday October 30th, 10:00 PT, 13:00 ET, 18:00 GMT, 19:00 CET. Register for free here.
Writing a Clearer Future with User Scenarios
Clifton B.
We’ve all pictured a world where things just work. Sure, we get bogged down in the details and worry about what it would take to make things just work, but there’s an overlooked magic in those moments when we imagine things doing what we feel they should do. A magic in dreaming of what could be, without getting worked up over why it can’t. And that magic should be a part of every product team’s process.
In this 1-hour session, we’ll explore the beauty of user scenarios—bite-sized descriptions of interactions between humans and systems—and how they can help teams focus on the ideal experience to start building. We’ll discuss the importance of team buy-in, ways that non-designers can be part of the process, and what to do if things get a little shaky.
Audience:
This session is for anyone who works on or with a product team, regardless of their role. It’s typically given to software teams, but anyone involved with systems used by humans will benefit from this course.
Takeaways:
At the end of the session, attendees will have a completed single-page user scenario in a subject of their own choosing, and be able to share the beauty of scenarios with their teams and begin utilizing them immediately.
Presenter:
Clifton B is an interaction designer, game designer and user researcher who’s taught scenario writing to dozens of teams, helping them create scenarios on their own, even when no designer is present. He started writing scenarios in 2012, and now uses them in all sorts of situations.

The knowledge-creating family
Nate Jebb.
You’ll see a demonstration and exploration of how to pass on your hard-won know-how to your kids. All are welcome (though parents especially will benefit).
We’ll show tactical, practical methods gleaned from an expert’s 25 years of consulting in the "intellectual capital" space.
We will also be referencing concepts from the 1991 HBR article (later expanded upon into a book): "The Knowledge-Creating Company, which helped popularize the notion of ‘tacit’ knowledge — the valuable and highly subjective insights and intuitions that are difficult to capture and share because people carry them in their heads.” (from the Editor's Note in HBR Classics edition).
In this webinar, you'll observe how to make your “tacit” knowledge into “explicit” knowledge that you can state plainly, discuss, and expand on in conversation at the dinner table.
Join here on October 30th at noon EST: https://zoom.us/j/98517828671?pwd=Y1lpWXdlanh4SjNuRDBVai93bmFLdz09

And now what?
Anna Billow Bodlund and Jenny Fürstenbach.
Join us in a 45-minute conversation on how to move from full on family life to full on me-life. Raising a family demands time, energy, and engagement. And if we give it all we have, it can be truly rewarding. But children grow up, and by the time they don’t need us as much anymore, we may be left with a feeling of being stuck. And now what?
Take this opportunity to explore possible paths that will lead you into your unknown future. One thing we can assure you is this: as one journey comes to an end, another one always begins, and it is up to you to make sure that it is a journey you will want to be on.
October 29th 18:00-18:45 CET, on Teams. Join here.

Visual Thinking / Direction vs Destination
Damion Triplett.
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.
We live in the turbulence of priorities, demands, and decisions — while there are big life questions, sometimes the needs are as simple as what should be my next step. How do you reflect on the big and/or the small questions? This is the opportunity to do more than going down a checklist or worrying about a to-do list — it's about direction.
As a lifelong learner and a career in design, I've used what I call visual thinking to define and discover the direction of my professional and personal life. I believe that tools like visual frameworks, mental models, tips, and tricks can help bring more accountability.
In this upcoming exploratory free event (lasting one hour) I will be going over what I hope the final course will cover, answer any questions, and take suggestions. I hope that you can join me for what I hope to be a great discussion.
You’ll leave with:
understand the opportunity for visual thinking
some practical resources and references to use
a new perspective on how to make decisions
Join me on Friday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m. PST to explore this topic. Calendly Invite (limited to 25 people)
Experiment Setting
Luke Szyrmer
While Goal Setting is common knowledge, there are situations where the goals themselves become too stifling and limiting, leading you down a path of mindless activity. Or worse, the goal is so ambitious or unclear, that you feel crushed under your own expectations, and never manage to start.
In this session, let’s actually define an experiment together, so that you have an alternative if you’re facing uncertainty and volatility.Learn how to set yourself up for success in conditions of high uncertainty or doubt. Use experiments, take action, and then…take more action!
You will discover:
When experiments are more appropriate than goals
How to define an experiment, to maximize discovery potential
How to turn a hunch into a proven idea
How to take action, even if you don’t have the full picture, the right answer, or you’re concerned about rocking the boat
In return, I’d like to get your feedback and also how you hope to apply these skills, so that I can provide more useful case studies in the full edition of this course in the future.
Friday October 27 @ 16:00 CET (European continental) / 10:00 EST (New York). Link to join.
