The Monday memo is food for thought to fuel your week.
Hi everyone,
A manifesto is simply a public declaration of your intentions.
Whether you publish it or not, a clear statement of your intentions will prime your brain to notice relevant things. And the more things you notice that align with your intentions, the more opportunities and possibilities you will find and create.
A manifesto is a way to begin with the end in mind.
A manifesto gives you a space to articulate your wants and needs.
A manifesto can generate ideas for creative projects, which can serve as stepping stones to bigger things.
It’s about making your passion, purpose, and energy “addressable" to yourself, and potentially to others in the future. It’s a way to cultivate a sense of self-leadership, consciously choosing the direction of your creative energy rather than being passively led by external pressures.
Think of it as a "center of gravity" for your possibilities. By putting your intentions into words, you create a touchstone that you can return to when facing the inevitable challenges and uncertainties of creative work.
It doesn't need to be a rigid contract, but rather, a snapshot of your current aspirations. Think of a manifesto as a tool for manifesting the future you want to live in.
Exercise.
Here’s your exercise for the week: write your manifesto. It can be as simple as a private document that’s just for you, a set of intentions and guiding principles that you review and update periodically.
You don’t need to publish it right away. In fact you don’t ever need to publish it. Use it as a placeholder for your intentions, right now. See what happens.
Spring break.
We are still on spring break, and I’m using this time to do a little spring cleaning in my studio, my mind, and my work.
We’ll resume sessions on April 16th. The Friday campfire calls will continue during the break, so do check in if you’re around!
Until next time,
Love it! Great centre of gravity 🙌🏼
