January-February 2026 session notes and recordings.
Project Magic, hosted by Claire Mendelsohn and Satora Oswald, runs from January 7 to February 11, 2026. During that time, we will meet every Wednesday from 9 am to10:30 Pacific.
Sessions are in reverse chronological order.
Session 6.
We finalized open house plans for the 18th — lobby sessions, auto-assigned two-person breakouts with seven-minute rotations, and a connection corner for sharing projects. The conversation drifted into a great discussion about art versus design, emotional processing, and reclaiming creativity for adults.

Session 5.
Today in the lobby a handful of us fell into a sprawling conversation about what art actually is and why it matters. We didn’t reach any tidy conclusions, but that’s kind of the point: art will escapes every box you try to put it in.

Session 4.
We explored how to structure our meetings to encourage better engagement, with Claire and Satora proposing flexible breakout room options and inviting us to share our preferences on group size and format. We discussed Robin Dunbar’s research on relationship limits. Lorne offered a useful creative states framework (frozen, flowing, foggy), and we talked about how group size affects whether people actually engage or check out. We wrapped up with Satora announcing an upcoming open house for sharing projects, and Claire setting up anonymous feedback channels. The throughline was agency, encouraging everyone to shape their own experience rather than passively following along.

Session 3.
We shared updates on our work, ranging from retreats and workshops to daily creative practices and sharing platforms, prioritizing quality relationships over scale, the challenges of sustaining energy in virtual spaces, and the need for consistency and feedback. Overall, the tone was playful and generative, reinforcing our shared commitment to curiosity, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

Session 2.
Wednesday, January 14, 2026. We broke the format into two tracks. Dave hung out with Claire and some others in the lobby to talk about process. Lorne took it even further to break off with a small group and create a new imaginary satellite world orbiting around planet Magic.
