The Monday memo is possibilitarian food for thought to fuel your week. Every memo has an insight or provocation along with an exercise or experiment to explore.
It’s the holidays! In fact today is a big one for a lot of people. I expect many of you won’t see this till tomorrow. But it’s Monday and I promised you a Monday memo, so here it is.
Happy holidays!
Food for thought:
People are busy. They have a lot on their mind. They start their day by going through their inboxes, their piles, their to-do lists. A lot gets missed or forgotten. Most people feel lucky if they are able to cross a few things off their list every day. For busy people, the end of the work day comes with a feeling of relief.
The holidays are a time that many people slow down. The end of the year is a time to reflect, to think about the longer term, what they accomplished last year and what they intend to do next year. It’s also a good time to connect with the people that matter in their lives.
Here’s your exercise for the week:
Remind people that you are there, and that you care.
Think about the people that are important to you and reach out to them. If you haven’t already done this, it’s not too late. Make a list of people that matter to you. Send them a note. Tell them that you’re thinking about them, and why they matter to you. Even if it’s just for a moment, you’re putting yourself at the top of their pile.
Tell them about your life, your trials and tribulations, your achievements. Ask them about their lives. Send them a picture or two; let them into your life.
Relationships are not built through big events so much as small acts of kindness and connection that are repeated over time. The end of the year is a great time to reach out and rekindle those relationships.

Here’s the recording and AI summary of our campfire call last week (best viewed in desktop browsers). Last week I did have one question: Where are the women? It was nice to see you Claudia! But it would be nice to see a bit more diversity around the fire. Please come and bring your uniqueness. You’re welcome to join us any Friday. Here are the joining instructions.
Hope you have a great holiday.
Until next time,
