A report on our migration and a limited-time offer for new members.
Hi friends!
TL;DR: We have completed the move from Substack to the Circle platform, and we are accepting new members for a limited time at $50/month, $500/year. Click to join.
You can also RSVP for next week’s Open House and/or our next Welcome Session on July 6th.
We are now on the other side of our big move from Substack to Circle! If you’re a paid member and you haven’t moved your subscription yet, you should have gotten (or will soon get) a pro-rated refund for any unused portion of your subscription.
Moving forward this Substack will be our newsletter. Meaning, if you stay subscribed, you will still get occasional emails and invitations to our public events. I won’t be sending out regular Campfire reminders anymore because Circle sends those to members automatically, but here’s a link you can bookmark. You can also add our public events to your Google calendar or download the invite in iCal/ics format.
There is still some cool stuff behind the paywall but there’s no longer an option to sign up for a paid subscription. To become a member and access the archives you’ll need to go here.
After a lot of thinking and some feedback from you all, I have set a limited-time offer for new membership at $50/month or $500/year.
What do you get if you join? Well for one thing, joining as a member is a way of saying you support the work I’m doing in building creative community. It’s a way of saying thank you for the space I make for the weekly campfire calls.
It also gets you into our creative studio, now hosted on Circle, where we host weekly events for members. Almost every week there is something going on, sometimes many somethings.
Now that we are on Circle it’s easier than ever for members to set up their own events and add them to our shared calendar. Some of these member-led events are paid for the public but are free for members.
Circle is all I had hoped it would be, and more.
Four times a year we run six-week project sprints, followed by an Open House Exhibition and celebration that’s open to the public. We are hosting an Open House next week, you should come!
We also host howfinding sessions and other events where we surface an issue and work through it together. We’ve held howfinding sessions on visual thinking and storytelling, writing, working with AI, guerrilla marketing and more.
The first Monday of every month we hold a welcome session for new members and anyone who wants to learn about the school. It’s an opportunity to talk to members about their experiences and the work that we are doing together. We have one of these coming up on July 6th. We would love to see you. Why don’t you join us?
In addition to our open house, in the next couple of weeks we’ll be hosting sessions on personal archaeology, TRIZ techniques for inventive problem solving, and exploring our relationships with money. Every School of the Possible session is highly interactive. We are not teaching classes here so much as figuring things out together. It’s super-fun to go into these sessions without knowing what’s going to happen and I have lost track of all the pleasant surprises and serendipities that happen when smart, curious, creative people collide.
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to join, maybe this is the time.
Hope to see you soon!
